Cupboard Memories -- poem by kate and beth

this was our poem for our conference presentation!

Remember me?
I was Rwanda
These days are like my cupboard memories

Chained to being who I am
Lying to make sure I survive
Differences between us faded
Known only by a stamp on a card
Tell me why I am

Anger controlled no longer
Stains wash over all around
We kept ourselves to trust
Fighting to stop the tears
I am helpless and powerless
Defenseless, nowhere to go

Taste these dry, fluorescent ashes
Ashes, remaining undetected
Dead and not returning
To the bloody plight

Describe to me a horizon
While I sit here, sitting dark
Does it still reflect this insanity
This country's damsels lay
Among my broken doors, these broken bones
Reflect the stillness of my neighbors

Confronting this absence
Of hope and heart
How do I piece my life back together
How do I learn to forgive
When the hatred still remains

Can I erase these marks
Can I go on in life
Wandering in this non-responsive world
The silence tells me
There's nothing left to say

These are my scarred,
Cupboard memories

Tears of the Saints - by Leeland

There are many prodigal sons
On our city streets they run
Searching for shelter
There are homes broken down
People's hopes have fallen to the ground
From failures

This is an emergency!

There are tears from the saints
For the lost and unsaved
We're crying for them come back home
We're crying for them come back home
And all your children will stretch out their hands
And pick up the crippled man
Father, we will lead them home
Father, we will lead them home

There are schools full of hatred
Even churches have forsaken
Love and mercy
May we see this generation
In its state of desperation
For your glory

This is an emergency!

Sinner, reach out your hands
Children in Christ you stand

And all your children will stretch out their hands
And pick up the crippled man
Father we will lead them home
Father we will lead them home

Dots on the ceiling

i decided i should turn gangsta! no really check out the pictures they're fabulastic! ........actually me and my sister found my dad's old parks and rec. trucker hats and had way too much fun trying them on. But don't you think it looks good on me? I'd say it adds a nice touch to my wonderful complexion. ( couldn't think of anything besides complexion)
hey john. you don't have to bring me a hat for next hat day now! however i'm still expecting a cool john deere hat or something for christmas! naturally i'll have an awesome gift for you too.

sleep hmmmmm good

this is a really random topic. but it came from something that happened to me from a long time ago that i remembered. so I'm going to ask you...........
have you ever been at a sleep over and when you fall asleep you're in a completely normal position but when you wake up you are a mass of twisted sheets messy hair and in the most uncomfortable position ever? I'm sure we've all had it. (for example: julie) Also have you ever had it at a sleep over that you wake up completely squished in one corner by your friend? I don't know who I've told this story to but I think its about time you knew.
Many many moons ago before grade nine.........think way back guys i know its hard.............I was at a sleep over with JACKIE! dun dun dun. After a very fun filled evening we crashed and spent the late hours of our night talking, and laughing and finally fell asleep. the next morning when i woke up i found myself on the very edge of the bed on my side with a certain someone's head using me as a pillow. I was about to fall off and i couldn't move otherwise I would wake her up so I had to slowly ease forward to the very very edge of the bed. to top things off the dog peed on the bed. (at least i think it did).
anyways that's my story. its the best one i got. i'm not one to wake up in weird positions.
